Waste emissions are mostly caused by rotting rubbish heaps. Recycling is an obvious answer to this problem, and indeed waste emissions have dropped dramatically since this was introduced. Further recycling is one answer to reducing emissions in this area, as well as composting food waste and bacteria breaking down organic waste (which can then be used as biomass fuel).
